Water Supply Network

Do you want to ensure clean water and a good living environment for everyone living and staying in Uppsala municipality? Do you want to contribute to our vital work by developing our stormwater management and the expansion of the public water supply system? Then apply for the role of investigation engineer with a focus on stormwater issues!

About the Position

As an investigation engineer, you have great opportunities to influence how future water supply systems are designed in and around Uppsala. You will work both with feasibility studies and with the preparation of documentation for investment decisions, to enable the expansion of the public water supply system and to meet the environmental requirements set. Examples of this may include investigating the need for expanding the pipeline network and stormwater facilities in new detailed planning areas as well as stormwater facilities within existing areas. The investigations may include both technical and legal questions. The position also includes supporting the municipality in its stormwater work.

Your tasks will include:

  • Monitoring the interests of the water supply authority in new detailed plans, e.g., by ensuring that there is space for public water supply facilities and reviewing stormwater investigations.
  • Conducting or project-managing feasibility studies and investigations regarding potential exploitation and the need for new or reconstruction of stormwater facilities.
  • Preparing project directives and other documentation for investment decisions.
  • Being a client for consulting services when necessary and leading consultants during feasibility studies.
  • Providing support to designers and construction managers in the design and contracting phases for developed investment projects.
  • Monitoring the function of existing stormwater facilities through site visits and sampling.
  • Reviewing water supply documents at all stages of projects, from feasibility studies to system documents, tender documents, construction documents, and as-built documents, together with other functions within the company.
  • Coordinating planning and dialogue with the department's strategists and the municipality on overarching issues regarding stormwater and heavy rainfall.

You will belong to the Expansion group in the Network Planning section. Here, you will be part of an engaged team of investigation engineers where collaboration and well-being are highly valued. You will also have close cooperation with the department's stormwater strategist, other strategists, and engineers in hydraulic modeling.

Qualifications

  • Civil engineer/university engineer in environmental and water engineering or similar, alternatively another university degree combined with extensive experience in water supply issues.
  • Previous experience in water supply investigations, water supply planning and/or design.
  • Previous experience working with stormwater facilities for treatment or retention.
  • Driver's license (B).
  • Good knowledge of Swedish in speech and writing.

It is an advantage if you also have:

  • Knowledge and experience in water supply legislation and the community building process.
  • Experience in monitoring stormwater facilities.
  • Previous experience working with environmental quality standards and action plans for stormwater.

We place great emphasis on your personal qualities and want you to share our common core values, “we are attentive, forward-thinking, and curious,” and apply them in your professional role. To thrive in this role, you are responsible, structured, can prioritize among tasks, and drive your processes forward. You have good analytical skills and can handle complex issues with consideration of the overall perspective. You are communicative and have an easy time collaborating with others.
